TVAF were recently referred into an Oxfordshire based engineering company who manufactured parts for the motorsport industry (to include a number of F1 teams). The company had recently acquired a competitor and needed to acquire three new machines to cope with increased production. The incumbent funder (HBoS asset finance) was happy to organise the finance but at higher rates due to exposure levels.

TVAF arranged for Clydesdale Bank to attend a joint meeting with the client and a facility was agreed on the required terms within a week. The client has since taken delivery of the first two machines and the final machine is due for installation imminently. TVAF’s understanding of the sector, assets being purchased and the clients cash-flow requirement, enabled us to place the business with a suitable lender quickly and without undue delay to the client.

A Berkshire based haulage and distribution company have been using TVAF for their fleet funding requirements for some two years. When the Directors needed to move quickly recently to acquire two fork lift trucks, TVAF was able to react quickly with delivery and payment to the supplier taking place with inside 5 days.

TVAF was able to do this as we had both prior experience of the client and had also established pre-approved credit lines for the client with several lenders. This meant that time was not wasted seeking credit approval and we could act “same day” to draw the finance down for the client.

When a client needed to finance a £175,000 supercar it was suggested that he approach Thames Valley Asset Finance. The transaction was complicated for a number of reasons, to include protracted negotiations with various possible suppliers. The client passed the negotiating to TVAF and we handled the dialogue between the supplier, the funder and the clients’ accountants. TVAF are vastly experienced in this area, with a range of flexible funding solutions on offer.

TVAF were approached by a client in the new year who was looking to raise finance on a motor cruiser. He anticipated that we would advise him to look at a marine mortgage facility. However, we were able to advise that one of the lenders on our panel would agree to fund the boat using a standard Hire Purchase facility. The lender was happy to do so because the loan value was under £50,000. This meant the client saved over £1,000 in possible legal fees (standard with a marine mortgage). As a result of the advice, TVAF were able to complete the purchase inside seven days, enabling the client to take quicker delivery of the boat and save money.

A Berkshire based Pan European haulage and distribution company approached their existing lender directly to finance a number of HGV’s and trailers at a cost of over £165,000 ex VAT. Imagine the clients concern when their lender said that due to the recent incorporation of the business (having been a sole trader for many years), they could not extend further facilities over and above those already granted. TVAF were approached and we quickly managed to facilitate an agreement on the required terms with two other leading UK Finance Houses. This has enabled the client to take delivery of the equipment and manage their growing distribution contracts. TVAF’s access to over 20 lenders and in depth knowledge of the sector helped achieve this within the required timescales.

The recent implementation of Basel II has seen an adjustment in the pricing that UK Banks and Finance Houses charge clients. The effect of Basel II is that lenders now have to manage more closely their Return on Equity. In simple terms it is a case of “risk versus reward”.

A client approached TVAF recently when his existing lender had to increase their lending rates to take account of the new legislation. With access to over two dozen lenders we were soon able to place £60k of new construction equipment on highly competitive terms.

Finally acquired my dream car, the Lamborghini Murcielago, on the 1st of May 2007. Closing the deal could not have been any easier without the help of Andy Wise of Thames Valley Asset Finance (TVAF).
